Pre-Confirmation and Confirmation Families:
As you know, your student needs to complete a
justice and service project through our youth ministry program this
year. This letter is to inform you regarding the St. Vincent De Paul
trips that will take place throughout the year. These trips are one
option for the young people to get their justice and service project
completed. Remember, they can also participate in the Bowling 4 Cans
efforts or the 5K fun run on Thanksgiving Day that we will be offering
later on in the school year. If you are interested in the St. Vincent’s
trips, you will need to follow the instructions in this letter. If you
are interested in the dates of the St. Vincent’s trips, please refer to
your youth events calendar for opportunities in the future.
Below you will
find a map with directions to St. Vincent’s
and a parking pass. You will also find two permission slips,
one for St. Vincent’s and
one for the parish,
a volunteer policies page, a “How
Food Handlers Can Contaminate Food” page, and the food handler
certificate quiz. Please read all of these documents. In
order to register for the St. Vincent’s trip, you will need to fill out
both permission slips as well as fully fill out the food handler
certificate quiz. Once you have done so you may turn them into the
youth ministry office or the faith formation office. Registrations
for all trips are due two weeks ahead of time. This is so that we
can arrange car pools.
As mentioned,
there is a parking pass with map and directions. If a parent would like
to volunteer to drive, you should let us know by indicating on the back
of the parish permission slip. You should make sure to check off how
many people you can safely fit in your vehicle. If parents do not want
to drive, we are arranging for other transportation. Registrations will
be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Anyone turning theirs in
after the first set of people have been accepted will be put onto a
waiting list and put at the front of the line for the next trip. Youth
need to remember to wear long pants and closed toe shoes regardless
of the weather.
Youth need to be at the parish by 3:00 p.m. so that we can be on site at
St. Vincent’s by 3:50 p.m. Dinner service concludes by 7:00 p.m. and
families can count on youth returning to the parish by around 8:00 p.m.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for
your time.
Yours in
Christ,
Patrick T. Clasby, Coordinator of Youth Ministry
